| Fitteds & Prefolds - A Great System for Customizing your Diapers A fitted or prefold diaper is the absorbent part of your two piece diapering system. The second piece of the system is the diaper cover. The diaper cover is the waterproof barrier between the diaper and the outside world (read: your lap!).Why use a two piece system when there are great one piece systems like Pockets and AIOs?? At New & Green, we love fitteds and prefolds for a few reasons. One reason is that we like the option of having natural cotton, bamboo or hemp next to our little one's skin. While the fleece inside of a pocket or AIO is a great stay-dry option, there is nothing like the feel of natural fibers! The other important reason is that your baby can go coverless. Yes, no cover! This is great if you are practicing Elimination Communication/Infant Pottying or are at the stage where you are helping your child to learn how to use the potty independently. Prefolds don't have fasteners so for the coverless option, you need to use pins as snappis can come off with curious toddler fingers.
