These are 100% Certified Organic Unbleached Cotton twill prefold cloth diapers that are soft, durable and highly absorbent. These are made in Pakistan with luxurious Organic Indian cotton.
These are the second generation of cloth diapers, following the flat flannel diapers that your mother may have folded up and pinned onto you! This diaper is a flat rectangle and "pre folded" into three lengthwise panels. The outer two panels (infant and baby size) have 4 layers of cotton and the middle panel has 8 layers of cotton. The NEW preemie size has 2 layers on the outsides and 4 layers in the middle.
These are really versatile, easy to wash and dry and very customizable.
They can look a bit intimidating to use if you are used to a formed diaper, but with some instruction and practice, these are great diapers.
How do you use them?
- Fold the diaper into thirds and lay it like a pad into a snug fitting diaper wrap (suggest Bummis Super Whisper Wrap). Once the diaper is laid (like a pad) into the wrap, you fasten the wrap on the baby, and voila, you are done!
- Use a Snappi to secure the diaper on. This provides a secure fit and then you can use a looser fitting diaper cover such as a Whisper Pant or Wool cover with your Prefold. Diagrams and descriptions of using a snappi with a prefold are here!
- Prefolds can also be used as a pocket diaper stuffer and later on, when your child is using a potty to do their business, they can be put away for your next child, resold or used for rags.
These diapers should be washed and dried 3-5 times before using to remove the natural oils and waxes. Please expect an approximate shrinkage of about 20-25% after completing the pre-washes.
After washing, the diapers will measure approximately:
Newborn (4-9lbs) sized diaper fits perfectly with a newborn Super Brite Diaper Cover.
Infant (7-20lbs) sized diaper = 11" x 13.5"
Baby (15-40lbs) sized diaper = 13" x 19.5"
