AMP Hemp inserts are made of 3 absorbent layers of 55% Hemp 45% Cotton fleece.
Before prewashing, each insert measures approximately 15" x 15" (12" x 14" after washing) and can be folded once to make 6 layers of Hemp or twice to make 9 layers.
Super absorbent 3 layer inserts are the perfect all night solution for older babies or for very heavy wetters during the daytime.*
Hemp is a smart choice for diapers because of it's durability and it's absorbency. Antimicrobial properties make hemp a healthy choice as well. These are similar in size to the AMP Bamboo Inserts. They key differences are:
- The Bamboo insert is 2 layers; this insert is 3 and offers more absorbency potnetial
- The Bamboo insert is thinner and more flexible allowing it to be folded and used in small/newborn sized diapers/covers. The 3 layer hemp is too big for small/newborn sized diapers
- The Bamboo insert is made with a blend of organic cotton. The hemp is made with a blend of conventional cotton.
- The Bamboo insert is an anytime/any age insert but may need to be boosted for overnights. The Hemp insert is best for babies 15lbs+ and can be used as a stand-alone night time solution.
We love to use these inserts in the following ways:
- Stand alone absorbency inside of an AMP Duo One Size Diaper either folded in half or in thirds for a narrower insert betwen the legs
- Stand alone flat diaper laid inside a snug fitting diaper cover such as a Bummis Super Whisper, Super Brite, Super Snap, Super Lite or Flip One Size. We like the inserts folded once in half inside of these covers so that there is optimal/spread out coverage.
- Additional absobency inside of a pocket diaper such as a bumGenius Stay Dry Cloth Diaper or a Fuzzi Bunz or other One Size or Medium/Large Cloth Diaper
- When using this next to baby's skin, it will feel wet as it's a natural fiber. Some bums are A-OK with this but for those babies with skin that is on the sensitive side, adding a microfleece layer on top of the insert to wick away the wet can make all the difference in skin health. It's also a great poop management tactic!
*Please note that the three layer super absorbent inserts are too big to fit properly in small sized diapers, but do work well in one size diapers on the medium or large settings.
